How to's and Why for's
HELPER.EXE
Helper is a self-hypnosis help program. Using a combination of shapes,
sounds, and words, Helper was designed to aid the self-hypnosis process.
You are able to set time limits, create suggestion templates, store those
templates to a file and recall them. If you register, you can receive Assist,
a program which will cancel the Introduction pages, allow the use of a
standard template file name, allow the storage of time settings, modify the
Stage Two phrase duration, and create/edit template files. The registration
fee and address are at the end of this file.
Data input to Helper is self directing using tone and high lighted text.
Error messages and syntax information will appear, high lighted, for 5
seconds. Once Helper has the requisite data, it will start the session.
!!!NOTE!!! Helper does require 1 of the following graphics cards,
Hercules clone,
CGA clone,
EGA clone or
VGA clone.
The graphic detect routines are HARDWARE oriented, software drivers may
not work. If a graphics card is unavailable or not recognized, Helper will
terminate with an appropriate message.
Helper seems to work best in a darkened, quiet room with the brightness
and contrast controls at maximum. The suggestion phrases must be less than of
equal to 40 characters per line, Helper will not accept more. There should be
short and simple, easy to read and repeat to yourself.
Make sure that you will be free of interruption and distraction. The
program seems to work better if you are at least semi-relaxed before starting.
Some of my better sessions have been after a Raspberry wine cooler.
I will not argue the subjective vs. objective reality of hypnosis. If
nothing else, maybe just the relaxation and repeatition will work the changes,
I don't know. In essence, I believe the argument to be futile. If changes
result, what matter whether the method involved is subjective or objective.
The same arguements can be applied with equal validity to reality, so what the
matter.
Helper is keyboard interruptable. CTRL BREAK will stop the program
anytime there is a request for a response, any key will terminate the timing
sequence and Helper will finish the session, IN ORDER.
i.e. you hit a key during Stage One; the trance induction stage, Helper
will complete the Stage One sequence, continue through the Interim, once
through Stage Two and finally the Termination phase BEFORE returning to
Command.Com.
Helper is written in Borland's Turbo Pascal Version Four. Special thanks
to them for finally delivering a decent, low-cost, easy to use Pascal
compiler. For once, something I like better than assembly.
If you have any problems, questions, or suggestions; please give me a
holler. In case of a, Powers forbid, RunTime Error, please note the error
code and error address and include them in your missive. I will check the
problem and get back to you A.S.A.P. (NO, I don't use a modem!) However, send
correspondance to:
